On Monday, I got a new tattoo. Its only my second, the first being a pissant pink five pointed star on my right upper arm. This one is a half sleeve going from just below my shoulder to just above my elbow and its one of those ‘big eyed kids’ reproduced in a gazillion paintings in the 60s and 70s. I have many of them and the one on my arm is of a girl blankly twisting to the portable record player that lays at her feet. Behind her are these tiki skulls and a cat motif.

So far I only have the outline, and that took two hours. It didn’t hurt and in fact, I almost fell asleep a couple of times – I felt quite mellow. Ross-the-tattoo-guy is a legend (he works at Fat Ink – cheap plug there) and he did the design for me. I had only met Ross a few times when I decided he could do the tattoo for me. I had wanted a half sleeve for ages, but the motivation to get and do it only came after I met Ross. He has cool rockabilly style tattoos – lots of dice!

I just have to wait two weeks for this bit to heal and then we colour! My arm is a bit sore to lie on at night, and the tattoo feels a bit stretchy, cuz its scabbin’ up good (its meant to).
